Measured entry
fancy-vertical-cut-reveal
text-effectspatialmotion on file
A client-side React text reveal that clips words, characters, lines, or custom-delimited segments and animates them vertically with Motion. It ships as a shadcn registry component and relies on Motion, Tailwind utility classes, and the usual cn helper imported through the project alias.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 28.76s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/fancy/text/vertical-cut-reveal.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A flexible, source-available heading effect with clean rendering and useful control hooks, but its Motion dependency is substantial for a narrow flourish. It needs a shadcn-style setup before it will build or mount unchanged, so it fits best in projects already using that structure.
Use it if
- You need a configurable entrance treatment for a short hero heading or campaign statement.
- You want word, character, or line splitting with stagger direction and timing controls.
- You need to start or reset the reveal imperatively and respond when it begins or completes.
Skip it if
- Your interface must honor reduced-motion preferences without adding that behavior yourself.
- You are animating long passages where the extra wrapper elements and staggered motion would be distracting.
- You do not already use Motion and cannot justify adding it for a single heading effect.
Install
| Declared dependencies | motion |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, install Motion, provide Tailwind classes including a screen-reader-only utility, and add a cn class-merging helper at the expected alias or replace that import. Keep it in a client-rendered React boundary.
