Measured entry
magicui-grid-pattern
A React SVG background that draws a repeating grid and can optionally fill selected cells. It ships as a shadcn registry component, uses React's stable ID hook, Tailwind utility classes, and the local cn class-merging helper, with no declared third-party package dependencies.

BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 29.68s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/grid-pattern.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A focused, accessible decorative SVG with useful controls and clean runtime behavior. It needs a shadcn-style setup before it will build in a bare project, but it is a sensible choice when the existing Tailwind stack already supplies that convention.
Use it if
- You need a decorative grid behind a hero, dashboard, or empty state.
- You want to control grid spacing, offsets, dashed strokes, or highlighted cells through props.
- Your project already has Tailwind and a shadcn-style utility alias in place.
Skip it if
- Your design calls for an animated, interactive, or canvas-based background.
- You cannot support absolute positioning and a positioned parent around the background.
- You want a dependency-free drop-in for a project without Tailwind or path aliases.
Install
| Declared dependencies | none declared |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, add Tailwind styling, configure the at-sign source alias, and provide the local lib/utils module with a cn class-merging helper. Alternatively, replace that import with your project's class-name utility and translate the utility classes to your styling system.
