magicui-line-shadow-text

text-effectgradient-glowmotion on file

A client-side React text effect distributed as a shadcn registry component. It renders a Motion element with a duplicated pseudo-element, Tailwind utility classes, and a CSS keyframe animation for the traveling line shadow. It depends on Motion plus the shadcn-style cn helper backed by clsx and tailwind-merge.

Verdict

A focused, flexible heading accent that builds and mounts cleanly in its intended environment. It needs a shadcn-style setup, and the Motion dependency is a meaningful tradeoff for such a narrow effect. Use it when the animated treatment will be reused or is central to the page.

Use it if

  • You need a compact animated accent inside a hero heading or campaign title.
  • Your app already uses Tailwind utilities and has a shadcn-style component foundation.
  • The text is a plain string and you want to choose the rendered semantic element.

Skip it if

  • Your heading needs nested markup, icons, or separately styled words because the child must be a string.
  • You are minimizing client-side animation dependencies for a small decorative effect.
  • Your motion policy requires reduced-motion behavior without adding an external override.
  • Your project does not use Tailwind and you do not want to translate its utility and theme CSS.

In a non-shadcn project, add Motion, clsx, and tailwind-merge; provide a cn utility or replace that call; configure the source alias or switch to a relative import; and add the Tailwind theme animation plus its line-shadow keyframes. Keep the file client-side in frameworks that distinguish server and client components.
