magicui-text-animate

text-effectdark-futuristicmotion on file

A client-side React text animator distributed as a shadcn registry component. It splits a plain string by text, word, character, or line and applies preset or custom Motion variants. It depends on Motion, Tailwind utility classes, and a shadcn-style cn helper backed by clsx and tailwind-merge.

Verdict

A flexible, credible choice for animated display copy in an existing Motion and Tailwind stack. It built and rendered cleanly in the configured harness, but it needs a shadcn-style setup and does not work as an untouched drop-in for a bare React project.

Use it if

  • You need staggered entrance and exit effects for headings, labels, or short blocks of plain text.
  • Your React project already uses Motion and Tailwind, and you want control over segmentation, viewport triggering, semantic elements, and custom variants.
  • You want animated segments while exposing one coherent text label to assistive technology.

Skip it if

  • The content includes links, emphasis, icons, or other rich children, because this component accepts only a plain string.
  • You need reduced-motion behavior to be enforced by the component itself without adding your own preference handling.
  • You do not otherwise use Motion and cannot justify adding it for a small text treatment.

In a non-shadcn project, install Motion, clsx, and tailwind-merge; add a cn utility under the expected lib path or change the import; configure the matching path alias; and ensure Tailwind processes the component so its layout and accessibility utility classes are emitted. Add your own reduced-motion policy if required.
