Measured entry
shadcn-dropdown-menu
A client-side React dropdown menu wrapper shipped as source code for a shadcn-style project. It composes Radix menu primitives into triggers, portals, items, groups, checkboxes, radio choices, submenus, labels, separators, and shortcuts, with Lucide icons, a shared cn helper, and Tailwind theme and animation classes.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 1.53s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/components/ui/dropdown-menu.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A capable, accessible menu building block for teams already committed to shadcn conventions. It builds and mounts in that environment, but the bare check fails because the shared utility import is absent, so it needs a shadcn-style setup rather than a direct copy into an unprepared app.
Use it if
- You already use shadcn conventions and want a source-owned menu that matches the rest of that design system.
- You need keyboard-aware actions, nested menus, checkable choices, or radio choices without assembling the interaction primitives yourself.
- You want to customize menu markup and classes directly in your application.
Skip it if
- Your project does not use Tailwind or shadcn theme tokens and you do not want to translate its styling layer.
- You need a small basic menu and do not want the added Radix dependency footprint.
- You prefer a packaged component with upstream style updates instead of maintaining copied source.
Install
| Declared dependencies | radix-ui |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
A non-shadcn project must add Radix UI and Lucide React, provide the cn class-merging helper or replace it, configure the import alias, and recreate the Tailwind theme tokens, state variants, and animation utilities used by the source. It also needs a client-capable React environment.
