originui-input-04

inputunclassified

A compact email field with an associated label and an optional-status hint aligned above the control. It ships as a shadcn registry component, composing Origin UI Input and Label primitives. It relies on React useId, Tailwind utility and theme classes, the shared cn helper, path aliases, and Radix UI for the label primitive.

Verdict

A focused, accessible composition that builds and mounts cleanly in its intended environment. It is useful as a small form pattern, but it needs a shadcn-style setup and will not work as a bare drop-in because its shared utility import and supporting UI primitives must be present.

Use it if

  • You need a clearly labeled email field that also marks the value as optional.
  • Your project already uses shadcn conventions, Tailwind theme tokens, and the shared cn helper.
  • You want the label association generated safely when several instances render on one page.

Skip it if

  • You need validation messaging, descriptions, or error-state behavior included in the component.
  • Your form system already owns field labels and optional indicators, making this wrapper redundant.
  • You cannot adopt Tailwind theme classes, shadcn path aliases, or the Radix UI dependency.

In a non-shadcn project, add the Origin UI Input and Label implementations, install Radix UI, provide a compatible cn class-merging helper, configure the import alias, and supply Tailwind plus the referenced theme tokens. Otherwise, replace the aliases and utility classes with equivalents from your stack.
