Measured entry

originui-input-09

inputunclassified

A labeled email input with a leading mail icon. It ships as a shadcn registry component plus shared Input and Label primitives, and relies on React, Tailwind utility classes, Lucide, the Radix label primitive, path aliases, and a shared class-merging helper.

What the harness recorded

BARE BUILD

✗ Build failed in 3.04s
error during build:
[vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/components/ui/label.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'

Verdict

A dependable, narrowly scoped email-field pattern for an existing shadcn codebase. The verified build and mount are clean, but the bare project fails on the missing shared utility import, so it needs a shadcn-style setup or equivalent local wiring.

Use it if

  • You need a compact email field whose icon reinforces the expected input without replacing its visible label.
  • Your app already uses shadcn conventions, Tailwind theme tokens, and shared form primitives.
  • You want a field that mounts cleanly, avoids viewport overflow, and passes the automated accessibility scan.

Skip it if

  • Your project does not use Tailwind or shadcn-style aliases and you do not want to recreate that infrastructure.
  • You need validation, helper text, error messaging, or form-state integration included in the component.
  • A plain native input is preferable to adding Radix and an icon dependency for one field.

In a non-shadcn project, add Tailwind with the referenced semantic theme tokens and variants, React, Lucide, and Radix UI. Provide a class-merging utility, copy the Input and Label primitives, then replace the registry path aliases with local imports or configure matching aliases.
