originui-input-31

inputunclassified

A React email input with a label positioned across the top border. It ships as a shadcn registry component and pulls in Origin UI's shared Input primitive. Styling comes from Tailwind utility classes and shadcn theme tokens, while the primitive expects the usual cn class-merging helper.

Verdict

A focused, accessible field treatment that builds and mounts cleanly in its intended environment. It needs a shadcn-style setup because the bare project cannot resolve the shared cn utility. Choose it for the border-label pattern, not as a complete form-field system.

Use it if

  • You want a compact email field whose persistent label remains visible after the user enters a value.
  • Your app already uses shadcn conventions, Tailwind utilities, and compatible theme tokens.
  • You need a labeled input that can be dropped into a form and connected through standard input props.

Skip it if

  • Your design system avoids labels that interrupt the field border.
  • You need a dependency-free field for plain CSS or an unconfigured React project.
  • You need built-in validation messages, help text, or form-library wiring rather than a styled input alone.

In a non-shadcn project, add the shared cn class-merging helper, configure the expected import alias, enable Tailwind, and define the referenced background, foreground, border, ring, muted, and destructive theme tokens. Install or copy the registry Input primitive with the component.
