originui-password-23

inputunclassified

A client-side React password field with a label and an inline button that toggles masked text. It ships as a shadcn registry component and imports project-owned Input and Label primitives. It also relies on a shared class utility, Tailwind theme classes, Lucide icons, and the Radix label primitive.

What the harness recorded

BARE BUILD

✗ Build failed in 2.48s
error during build:
[vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/components/ui/label.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'

Verdict

It builds and mounts cleanly, and the layout holds across the tested viewports. The broken aria-controls reference is a release blocker, though. It needs a shadcn-style setup and is best treated as a starter snippet rather than drop-in production UI.

Use it if

  • You want a compact labeled password field with an inline show and hide control.
  • Your app already follows a shadcn-style alias, utility, and theme structure.
  • You prefer a copy-owned component that can be adapted to your form conventions.

Skip it if

  • You need accessibility checks to pass without edits, because the toggle references a control identifier that does not exist.
  • You need a reusable field API, since the component exposes no props and fixes its label and placeholder.
  • You want a framework-neutral input without Tailwind, Lucide, Radix, or project alias assumptions.

For a non-shadcn project, add Tailwind styling and the expected theme tokens, configure the project alias, provide compatible Input and Label primitives plus the shared class utility, and install Lucide React and Radix UI. Also give the input a stable identifier and point aria-controls to it.
