Verdict

A solid fit for an animated multi-select in an existing design system, with native inputs preserving core checkbox behavior. It needs a shadcn-style setup to work as shipped, and teams should fix its collision-prone IDs when repeated values can appear across groups.

Use it if

  • You need a multi-select field that can be controlled by form state or manage its own selection.
  • Your choices benefit from descriptions, disabled states, and a choice of horizontal or vertical layout.
  • Your Tailwind interface already uses Motion and you want animated checkmark feedback.

Skip it if

  • You are keeping interaction code lean and do not want Motion for a checkbox animation.
  • You will render several groups with repeated option values and cannot patch the generated input IDs to avoid collisions.
  • You need built-in fieldset and legend semantics, validation messaging, or required-group behavior.
