8bitcn-command

cardskeuomorphism

An 8-bit styled wrapper around cmdk and shadcn command primitives, shipped as registry source rather than a standalone package. It also includes a Radix-based separator and retro stylesheet, and expects Tailwind utilities, the @ alias, a cn helper, shadcn command and dialog components, plus a remotely loaded Press Start font.

BARE BUILD

✗ Build failed in 1.08s
error during build:
[vite]: Rollup failed to resolve import "lucide-react" from "<sandbox>re-56692c7958bb/src/components/ui/dialog.tsx".

Verdict

The harness build fails because the registry dependency did not provide the imported @/components/ui/command module; the bare build also lacks @/lib/utils. Treat this as source for an existing shadcn-style setup, not a drop-in component. Avoid it when dependency repair is out of scope.

Use it if

  • You already run a shadcn and Tailwind stack and want a retro command palette that preserves cmdk behavior.
  • You want composable command groups, items, shortcuts, separators, and a dialog wrapper with pixel-styled framing.
  • Your project permits a hosted font import or can replace it with a locally managed retro font.

Skip it if

  • You need a standalone package that works without shadcn aliases, helpers, and generated UI primitives.
  • Your design system does not use Tailwind theme tokens or cannot accommodate the component's global retro stylesheet.
  • Your security or privacy policy forbids loading fonts from an external provider.
  • You require a component that passes the supplied build harness without repairing registry dependencies.

In a non-shadcn project, add cmdk and the Radix separator package, provide compatible command and dialog primitives, create the cn helper and @ path alias, configure Tailwind theme tokens, include the retro stylesheet, and decide whether to keep or self-host its font import. The registry dependency wiring must also be repaired so the command primitive resolves.
