Measured entry
fancy-float
hover-effect3dmotion on file
A client-side React wrapper that gives any child a continuous floating and rotating motion in three dimensions. It ships as a shadcn registry component, uses Motion's animation-frame and motion-value APIs, and imports a local cn utility through the standard project alias.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 26.80s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/fancy/blocks/float.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A compact, flexible wrapper with a clean verified build and mount, but the continuous animation has no built-in reduced-motion behavior. Its bare mount fails, so it needs a shadcn-style setup or equivalent project wiring.
Use it if
- You want ambient depth and movement around a hero card, product object, or decorative callout.
- Your React app already uses Motion and can host a client-only component.
- You need configurable drift, rotation, speed, or phase across several floating elements.
Skip it if
- The content must remain visually still or your interface has strict reduced-motion requirements that you cannot add yourself.
- You are avoiding a substantial animation dependency for one decorative effect.
- Your design needs interaction-driven hover feedback rather than perpetual ambient movement.
- Transforming the child would conflict with positioning or transforms already applied by its layout.
Install
| Declared dependencies | motion |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, add Motion, provide a cn class-name helper, configure the project alias used by that helper import or replace it with a relative import, and ensure the framework supports client components. Also provide the will-change-transform utility or replace it with equivalent CSS.
