magicui-glare-hover

hover-effectgradient-glowmotion on file

A React wrapper that sweeps a configurable diagonal glare across its children on hover. It ships as a shadcn registry component and builds the effect with Tailwind pseudo-element utilities and CSS variables. It imports the project cn helper, backed by clsx and tailwind-merge, and needs no provider.

Verdict

A focused, configurable hover treatment that built and mounted cleanly in the prepared harness. The standalone check did not mount, so it needs a shadcn-style setup with the expected styling and utility conventions. Add non-pointer behavior if the glare communicates state.

Use it if

  • You want a reusable hover sheen around cards, tiles, or compact promotional content.
  • Your React app already supports Tailwind arbitrary variants and a shadcn-style cn utility.
  • You need control over the glare color, angle, opacity, sweep size, and duration through component props.

Skip it if

  • Your interface must expose the same feedback to keyboard and touch users without adding focus and tap behavior.
  • Your styling pipeline does not compile Tailwind pseudo-element and arbitrary-property classes.
  • You only need the effect once and would rather avoid a React wrapper and class-merging dependencies.

In a non-shadcn project, add React and Tailwind with support for pseudo-element and arbitrary-property utilities, create the cn helper using clsx and tailwind-merge, and replace or configure the alias used by the utility import. Include the component file in Tailwind content scanning.
