motion-primitives-progressive-blur
hover-effectspatialmotion on file
A client-side React overlay that builds a directional progressive blur from stacked masked Motion layers. It ships as a shadcn registry TypeScript component and depends on Motion, Tailwind utility classes, and the usual cn helper imported through the project alias.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 27.45s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/progressive-blur.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A focused, composable blur overlay that builds and mounts cleanly in its intended environment. It needs a shadcn-style setup because the bare project cannot resolve its shared utility import, so it is best for teams already using that structure.
Use it if
- You need a directional blur fade over an image, video, or scrolling surface.
- Your interface already uses Motion and a shadcn-style utility setup.
- You want to animate the blur layer through standard Motion div props.
Skip it if
- You need a self-contained package that works without project aliases or utility helpers.
- You do not want to add Motion for a narrowly scoped visual effect.
- You need the effect to create its own layout without supplying dimensions and surrounding content.
- Your browser support policy excludes masked backdrop filters.
Install
| Declared dependencies | motion |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, install Motion, provide or replace the cn class-merging helper, configure the project import alias, and ensure the Tailwind utility classes are available. Supply explicit sizing and positioning where the overlay is used.
