motion-primitives-transition-panel

transition-effectspatialmotion on file

A client-side React primitive that animates switching among indexed child panels with AnimatePresence and a motion element. It ships as TypeScript registry source, depends on motion/react, and imports the conventional shadcn cn helper through the @ alias.

Verdict

A concise, flexible primitive for teams already using Motion, and the configured harness builds and mounts cleanly. The supplied demo does not meaningfully exercise its required state. It needs a shadcn-style setup before it works in a bare project.

Use it if

  • You already track an active panel index and want animated transitions between fixed React views.
  • Your app already uses Motion and can share its animation dependency.
  • You need custom enter, center, and exit variants while keeping panel rendering under your control.

Skip it if

  • You need a complete tabs, carousel, or stepper widget with controls, keyboard behavior, and semantic markup.
  • You want to avoid the noticeable bundle cost of adding Motion for a single transition.
  • Your content is not naturally represented as an indexed array of React children.
  • You need a drop-in demo whose supplied usage visibly exercises the component.

In a non-shadcn project, install Motion, add a cn class-merging helper, and configure the @ import alias or replace that import with a local relative path. Render it from a client-capable React module and supply the active index, child array, and animation variants.
