Measured entry
originui-comp-38
A labeled, segmented time field with a leading clock icon and a React Aria attribution link. It ships as a shadcn registry component plus a reusable date-field registry dependency, and relies on React Aria Components, Lucide icons, Tailwind theme classes, and a cn class-merging helper.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 6.72s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/components/ui/datefield-rac.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A sound choice for shadcn-based forms that need keyboard-friendly segmented time entry. It builds and mounts in the prepared harness, but the muted attribution text needs a contrast fix. Bare projects need a shadcn-style setup before it will build or mount.
Use it if
- You need an accessible segmented time entry rather than a plain text input.
- Your app already uses shadcn conventions, Tailwind theme tokens, and the cn helper.
- You want React Aria to handle keyboard interaction and time segments.
Skip it if
- Your project is intentionally dependency-light and cannot justify React Aria for one field.
- You need a time picker with a dropdown, presets, or a clock-face selector.
- You cannot adjust the muted text styling to resolve the detected contrast issue.
- Your styling system does not support Tailwind utilities or shadcn theme tokens.
Install
| Declared dependencies | react-aria-components |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, add React Aria Components and Lucide React, provide the cn class-merging helper, configure the referenced Tailwind utilities and theme tokens, and copy both the example component and its date-field UI dependency. Replace the registry import aliases with paths your bundler resolves.
