originui-comp-59

textareaminimal-flat

A compact labeled comment field shipped as a shadcn registry component. It uses React's stable ID hook to connect an Origin UI Label to an Origin UI Textarea, with Radix UI behind the label and Tailwind classes, theme tokens, a class-merging helper, and registry path aliases providing the styling infrastructure.

Verdict

A sound, accessible starting point for an Origin UI form, but it is only a small composition rather than a full field abstraction. It builds and mounts in the prepared harness, while bare projects need a shadcn-style setup because the shared utility module and alias are assumed.

Use it if

  • You need a conventional labeled textarea that already fits an Origin UI or shadcn component set.
  • You want the label and field association handled correctly without adding form-state behavior.
  • Your project already provides Tailwind theme tokens, registry aliases, and the shared class-merging helper.

Skip it if

  • You need validation messages, character counting, autosizing, or controlled form integration out of the box.
  • You want a standalone textarea with no Radix UI or shadcn-style infrastructure.
  • Your design system cannot adopt the component's Tailwind theme tokens and utility classes.

In a non-shadcn project, add Radix UI, the Label and Textarea wrappers, a compatible class-merging utility, the registry import alias, Tailwind processing, and matching color, radius, shadow, and focus-ring theme tokens. Alternatively, replace the aliased imports and helper with local equivalents.
