Measured entry
originui-comp-65
A labeled comment textarea with a muted background, shipped as an Origin UI shadcn registry component. It uses React's generated IDs to connect the label and field, composes local Label and Textarea primitives, and relies on Tailwind theme utilities, a class-merging helper, and Radix UI for the label primitive.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 3.72s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/components/ui/textarea.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A sound, narrowly scoped example with a proper label connection and clean responsive behavior. It is best treated as a styling recipe, not a full form control. It needs a shadcn-style setup because the bare project cannot resolve its shared utility import.
Use it if
- You need a compact labeled comment field that already matches a shadcn-style design system.
- You want the label and textarea association handled correctly through a generated ID.
- Your app already provides Tailwind theme tokens and local Label and Textarea primitives.
Skip it if
- You need validation messaging, character limits, autosizing, or submission behavior included.
- Your design system does not use shadcn-style aliases, theme tokens, or utility classes.
- You want a dependency-free native textarea rather than a composed registry example.
Install
| Declared dependencies | radix-ui |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, add the expected import alias and class-merging utility, bring in equivalent Label and Textarea primitives, install Radix UI for the label, and define the Tailwind theme utilities used for muted, foreground, border, ring, and destructive states.
