Measured entry
ruixen-drilldown-menu
accordionunclassifiedmotion on file
A client-side React drilldown list that keeps the selected branch visible as a breadcrumb while animating child rows into place. It ships as shadcn registry source, uses Motion for layout and character transitions, and expects Tailwind theme classes plus the shared cn utility backed by clsx and tailwind-merge.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 2m 47s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/components/ruixen/drilldown-menu.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A polished choice for callback-driven settings trees: it built, mounted, stayed within each viewport, and raised no automated accessibility findings. It needs a shadcn-style setup, so plain React projects cannot paste it in unchanged.
Use it if
- You need a compact settings or account menu with nested choices and an obvious route back up the tree.
- Leaf selections should invoke application callbacks while the component manages the active trail internally.
- You want animated hierarchy changes with reduced-motion behavior already included.
Skip it if
- Your menu items must be real links with native navigation, open-in-new-tab behavior, or crawlable destinations.
- You need a lightweight disclosure list and do not want Motion's substantial bundle cost for this interaction.
- Your design system does not use Tailwind utilities or shadcn-style theme tokens and you cannot adapt the styling.
Install
| Declared dependencies | motion, clsx, tailwind-merge |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, add Motion, clsx, and tailwind-merge; create the aliased cn helper; configure Tailwind; and define the muted, foreground, and ring theme tokens used by the classes. Preserve the client-component directive when using a server-rendered React framework.
