Verdict

A well-considered choice for small, editorial image sets: it is responsive, keyboard-operable, and respects reduced-motion preferences. It built and mounted cleanly in the prepared harness, but it needs a shadcn-style setup and does not work as a bare drop-in.

Use it if

  • You need a compact visual selector for a curated set of artwork, products, or portfolio entries.
  • Selection should work through buttons and keyboard focus while pointer users also get hover and drag feedback.
  • You want controlled or uncontrolled selection with a callback for synchronizing nearby content.

Skip it if

  • You need a conventional carousel that exposes many items for quick linear scanning.
  • Touch users must be able to select by dragging, since coarse-pointer devices use tap selection instead.
  • Adding a substantial animation dependency for one image selector does not fit your bundle budget.
