Measured entry
ruixen-magic-tree
transition-effectunclassifiedmotion on file
A client-side React file tree that recursively renders folders and files, animates expansion and selection with Motion, and uses Lucide icons. It ships as a shadcn registry component and expects a local cn utility plus Tailwind theme classes.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 30.56s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/magic-tree.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A tidy choice for a decorative, shallow file browser with controlled input and a useful selection hook. It mounts cleanly in the prepared environment, but it needs a shadcn-style setup and carries more dependency weight than a basic disclosure list.
Use it if
- You need a compact, read-only hierarchy for a file picker, sidebar, or project browser.
- Your interface benefits from animated folder disclosure and a simple selection callback.
- Your app already uses shadcn conventions, Motion, and Lucide icons.
Skip it if
- You need keyboard navigation and full ARIA tree semantics without extending the component.
- You need editing features such as rename, drag and drop, lazy loading, or context menus.
- You want to avoid adding an animation library for a small disclosure control.
Install
| Declared dependencies | motion, lucide-react |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, install Motion and Lucide React, provide an equivalent cn class-merging helper or replace that call, configure the import alias, and supply the referenced Tailwind utility and theme classes.
