Verdict

A clean, narrowly scoped shell for voting controls, with good labels and responsive rendering. It is not functional by itself and needs a shadcn-style setup, so adopt it only if wiring state and behavior is already part of your implementation plan.

Use it if

  • You need a compact vote control that fits inline with cards, comments, or list rows.
  • Your app already uses shadcn conventions and can supply the vote state and click handlers.
  • You want labeled icon buttons with a visually joined counter and sensible focus stacking.

Skip it if

  • You need a complete voting widget with state changes, request handling, or optimistic updates included.
  • Your design system does not use Tailwind theme tokens or shadcn-style component utilities.
  • You need the count itself to be interactive or announced as a live status without further accessibility work.

In a non-shadcn project, add the utility-class styling and theme tokens, a compatible cn helper, the shared Button implementation, class-variance-authority, Radix UI, and Lucide React. Then replace the registry import alias as needed and wire the count and button handlers to application state.
