Verdict

A solid presentational starting point for an existing shadcn codebase, but it is not a self-contained interaction. Bare mounting fails because it needs a shadcn-style setup, including the expected utility helper and import aliases.

Use it if

  • You need a familiar like or endorsement control with a count in one compact target.
  • Your app already uses shadcn conventions, utility CSS tokens, and an alias-based component structure.
  • You want the count separated from the action label without building a custom compound control.

Skip it if

  • You need the component to manage liked state, count updates, or server mutations by itself.
  • Your design system does not use utility classes or shadcn-style theme tokens.
  • You want a dependency-light native button without Radix, variant helpers, or an icon package.

In a non-shadcn project, add the Button primitive, the cn class-merging helper, matching import aliases, utility CSS configuration and theme tokens, plus Radix, class-variance-authority, and Lucide icons. Supply state and click behavior separately.
