Measured entry
neobrutalism-ntooltip
A client-side React tooltip wrapper shipped as a shadcn registry component. It builds on Radix Tooltip for behavior and accessibility, then adds neobrutalist Tailwind classes. It also expects the shadcn cn helper, the @ path alias, theme tokens, and animation utilities.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 24.47s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/components/ui/tooltip.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A sound choice for an existing neobrutalist shadcn codebase: it builds, mounts, stays within the tested viewports, and exposes Radix primitives cleanly. It is not standalone and needs a shadcn-style setup before it will build or mount.
Use it if
- You already use shadcn conventions and want a tooltip that matches a neobrutalist theme.
- You want Radix-managed trigger, positioning, delay, and accessible tooltip behavior behind a small local wrapper.
- You prefer owning the component source so its theme classes and defaults can be edited in place.
Skip it if
- Your project does not use Tailwind or cannot provide the component's custom theme tokens and animation utilities.
- You want a dependency-free tooltip rather than adding Radix Tooltip and project-specific utility wiring.
- You need rich interactive content, since tooltips are a poor fit for controls or essential information.
- You need a drop-in package that works without shadcn aliases and helper conventions.
Install
| Declared dependencies | @radix-ui/react-tooltip |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
In a non-shadcn project, install Radix Tooltip, provide a cn class-merging helper, replace or configure the @ alias, and add the referenced Tailwind theme tokens and animation utilities. Mark the file as client-side where the framework requires it.
