Measured entry
neobrutalism-tooltip
A React client-side wrapper around Radix Tooltip primitives, shipped as a shadcn registry component rather than a standalone package. It depends on Radix Tooltip, a project-local cn utility, Tailwind animation utilities, and the neobrutalism theme tokens used by its class names.

What the harness recorded
BARE BUILD
✗ Build failed in 26.68s error during build: [vite:load-fallback] Could not load <sandbox>/src/lib/utils (imported by src/cut/components/ui/tooltip.tsx): ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '<sandbox>/src/lib/utils'
Verdict
A solid fit for an existing neobrutalism shadcn codebase, with Radix handling the difficult interaction details. It does not mount bare and needs a shadcn-style setup, so it is a poor drop-in choice for an unrelated React stack.
Use it if
- You already use shadcn conventions and want a tooltip styled to match a neobrutalist interface.
- You want Radix-managed trigger, portal, positioning, keyboard, and screen-reader behavior behind a small local wrapper.
- You are comfortable owning and adapting copied component source inside the application.
Skip it if
- Your project does not use Tailwind or cannot provide the custom theme and animation classes this source expects.
- You need a dependency-free tooltip or want to avoid adding Radix for a small interaction.
- Your design system does not use shadcn-style source ownership, path aliases, or a shared class-merging helper.
Install
| Declared dependencies | @radix-ui/react-tooltip |
|---|---|
| Missing on install | none |
| Bare install | fails once the shadcn-style helpers are removed, so it needs that setup |
| Provider | no provider required in the harness |
A non-shadcn project must install Radix Tooltip, add or replace the cn class-merging utility and its import alias, configure Tailwind with the referenced theme tokens and animation utilities, and place the component behind a client boundary where the framework requires one.
